Taylor's and Kristen's Wedding

I have to admit, I wasn't sure what I thought of coral pink and yellow together,
but I thought these flowers turned out so darling.
I'm a huge fan of the Amsterdam coral roses.  They've been beautiful everytime
I've bought them.  I hope the bride and groom were pleased as well,
and I wish them a very happy life together!

Brexton's and Toni's Wedding

So...I realized that I didn't get a picture of the bridal bouquet for this wedding!
I'll have to see if I can get a couple from the bride.
I loved the colors of this wedding.  Blush and burgundy are so pretty together.
I hope the bride was happy with her bouquet and all of the flowers!
Congratulations to Brexton and Toni.

Brexton's and Toni's Bridals

Did this cute bouquet for a bride yesterday!
The burgundy dahlias were stunning!
The bride even sent me a little note to thank me for the bouquet,
and said her mother loved it, too!
Glad they were pleased!

Flowers for Uncle Lyneer

My Uncle Lyneer passed away a couple of weeks ago.
He's not been well for a couple of years, and he'd lived a good, long life...
91 years and five days.
He was always so friendly and always had a smile on his face!
When doing flowers, I thought of my Aunt Ilene.
I wanted to do something that she could keep in her home for a few days,
and I associate anything feminine with Aunt Ilene,
so soft pinks and peaches are what I was looking for.
I saw the coral roses and thought they were beautiful!
I hope Aunt Ilene felt of our love for her
and that she was able to enjoy these flowers for a little while.

Sympathy Flowers for Marvel

My sister-in-law's mother passed away last week, and she called and asked me if I
thought I could arrange some flowers coming out of a pair of her mother's shoes.
I have never done anything like this, so was a bit nervous,
but I thought they turned out pretty.  In fact, as I filled these shoes
with flowers, an idea for a poem came to mind.
I started writing it last night.  Maybe I'll get it finished and post it.

My parents also asked me to arrange some flowers as a gift from us.
I love the pink "Ballet" roses.  They're bright and cheery,
and one of my favorite pink roses.
I hope the family feels of our love for them!
Marvel was a wonderful lady.

Bryson's and Kaylie's Wedding

Got to do these sweet flowers for a sweet couple!
The pictures do not do the bouquet justice.
The pink Gerbera daisies were striking against the white roses.
I thought it turned out to be a beautiful bouquet, and Bryson and Kaylie looked great!
Congratulations to the happy couple!

Flowers for Rita

I was asked by the grand-daughters of a very dear lady who passed
away if I could make some corsages and boutonnieres for her
children and their spouses that they could wear on the day of her funeral.
The family sent a picture of the casket spray, and the carnations
in that photo looked to be more of a hot pink.  I could not found
a hot pink carnation, and bought the only pink carnations I could find.
Well, when I saw the casket spray, they had used the same carnation I had found!
I love it when things like that happen.  I felt it was a bit of a tender mercy.
It would not have mattered if the carnations didn't match, but it was just
something that made me happy since I can be a little bit of a perfectionist
when it comes to matching!  I felt very privileged to have been asked
to do these flowers.  Rita was a wonderful woman who
set a wonderful example for so many!

Flowers for a Sweet Baby Boy

I always figured there would be a time when I would be
asked to do funeral flowers, but never did I think about
the fact that someday I would need to do a spray
for an infant's casket.  Sadly, that day has come.

It was tricky to figure out what size to make this.
The baby was born prematurely and still,
and I was told that the casket would probably be about the size of a shoebox.
That just breaks my heart!
I did use a shoebox as a guide so I hope that the spray wasn't too large,
and that the family is able to feel at peace during this difficult time.

6th Grade Graduation

I had a friend call and order a wrist corsage for a 6th grade graduation,
and I decided I would make one for my daughter, too.
What a great idea!  I wish I'd thought of it with my 3 older daughters!
Congratulations to these two gals.  Have fun in Junior High!

A Goodbye Gift For Mrs. Cazier

My daughter has been part of a very close-knit Madrigal Choir group this year,
and at the beginning of February, our high school choir teacher announced
she would be retiring at the end of the school year!  We didn't like that news!
Mrs. Cazier is one of the most patient, kind-hearted teachers you could ever know,
and we will miss her terribly.

Her Madrigals wanted to present her with some special gifts, one of those
being a bouquet of 30 roses, a rose from each of the 30 Madrigals.
They were going to present the bouquet on the evening of a farewell banquet
that's held every year toward the end of the school year.
When I order roses, I order in bunches of 25, which meant I would need
to order 2 bunches and have 20 extra roses.  The Madrigal group
consists of juniors and seniors, 16 of which are seniors.
I e-mailed Mrs. Cazier and told her I would have some extra roses from an "event"
that I was doing flowers for, and I could bring them to place on the tables
as centerpieces. After my daughter presented the roses to Mrs. Cazier,
she announced that the seniors could each take one of the roses from the tables.
I could see that they were very surprised by that.  It's fun to surprise people with flowers!

My daughter came home from school yesterday and said that Mrs. Cazier just
kept going on and on about the flowers and how much she loved them!
They're called Pink Akito.  I love them, too!

We wish Mrs. Cazier the very best in all that she does!  I'm so grateful
3 of my kids got to have her as their choir teacher.

Flowers for Mike

I think it's time to do another wedding!
I've had way too many funerals lately, and most have been family.
Honestly, it is an honor for me to do flowers for funerals.
I find myself wanting to make sure they're "just so."
I hope each family knows that they're done with love,
and that they will bring comfort to the family as well.

My cousin's husband passed away last weekend and I was asked if I would
make the spray for his casket.  I've only done one other casket spray,
and that was last week for my stepfather-in-law.
I had a little help with that one, but for this one I was on my own.
I was told that an easel spray had been ordered with red roses and sunflowers,
and luckily, I was able to get those flowers.  I was pleased with how it turned out.

My parents also asked me to do a grave spray from the extended family members.
I didn't have my nice camera, so had to take the pics with my cell phone,
(I apologize for the blurriness), but I also thought it turned out pretty.
I always have a hard time deciding when I don't have guidance on what flowers to use.
I decided on a mix of spring/summer colors.

Kaelyn, your family is in my thoughts.  Love you!

Saying Goodbye to Grandpa Bill

It's been quite a week around here.  We received a call on Monday night informing us that
my mother-in-law's husband passed away.  It's always such a bitter-sweet thing.
He'd been struggling so much, especially the last two weeks of his life,
so we're grateful he's free from the pain he had to endure.

My mother-in-law asked me a couple of times if I'd want to do flowers.
I've always had a desire to learn how to do a casket spray and easel spray,
but figured I would get my mother-in-law's help if I was ever asked.
She is the person I went to when I was first learning to do flowers, but I knew she
wouldn't be able to help me this time.  I was hesitant and very nervous,
but with a little bit of help from my mother-in-law's former business partner and dear friend,
we were able to get the flowers done.  We had a little bit of drama with the roses (they literally arrived 2 hours before we were supposed to be at the funeral home.)
The only thing my mother-in-law requested for the flowers were orange roses,
so I couldn't let her down!  And what beautiful roses they were!  Stunning, in fact!

My children are going to miss their Grandpa Bill.  He was such a wonderful, fun-loving,
kind and gentle soul, and we look forward to the day we will be reunited.
